As students secure admissions and prepare to leave for their destinations, many questions arise in their minds in regards to life abroad. Keeping this in view HR Consultants Pakistan organized a Pre-departure Session for the students of HR who got selected in different programs abroad for the September 2019 intake. The session was arranged to tackle topics ranging from arrival at the host country to nifty tips & tricks for budgeting.
Held in Serena Hotel, Islamabad on 16th August, 2019, the event started off with an ice breaking session. The ice breaking allowed student interaction and introductions were made. The session then led to a presentation that covered common questions that arise in the minds of people who travel or study abroad. Topics regarding personal protection, common practices in foreign countries, airport hacks and safety measures were discussed.
The audience comprised of nearly 40 students ranging from undergraduate to postgraduate students, where most of them claimed that they had never lived alone in hostels or away from family. Hence, they had queries and curiosities, which the experienced counsellors from HR Consultants were able to answer. The counsellors also covered the topics of relations with university administration, keeping contact with the embassies and guided students to maintain proper conduct in a foreign countries while representing Pakistan. They also received clarification on the instructions that are given on the offer letter by the university.
Another benefit of the event was that the students came in contact with others in the same boat as them. Students and scholars leaving for the same countries, cities or even the same universities got to interact with each other. Contact numbers were exchanged and a Facebook group of HR Students came to be for future correspondence.
The event concluded on casual chatter, refreshments and contact exchange. The reviews from students were positive where they also expressed relief that they were able to get the answers they needed. Many students had accompanying family members or friends who admitted enjoying the event and getting many of their concerns placated.
Overall the event can be marked as a success. HR hopes to continue this practice as the benefits of the event were adamant and visible by the testimonials and reviews of the attendees.
