Aston guarantees an internship to all full-time students on a taught Master's (MA, MSc and LLM) at its Birmingham or London campus. It is open to international and UK students and free to join.

Eligibility
- Be a registered student on a campus-based MA or MSc at Aston's Birmingham or London campus.
- Submit an expression of interest to the Careers and Placements Team by the deadline given in your first term. Aston cannot guarantee an internship if you miss it.
- Not available if your programme already includes a mandatory placement, such as a clinical placement.
Your responsibilities
- Look for internship opportunities and join each selection process.
- Reply promptly to the Careers & Placements Team and the internship provider.
- Act professionally and follow the provider's rules.
- Stay compliant with the terms of your visa.
Aston will try to match your preferences but cannot guarantee a specific employer, or an internship in your exact area of study or sector. Failing to meet your responsibilities may end your eligibility or your internship early.

Life and work in Birmingham
A campus in the city centre of the UK's second-largest city, 5 minutes' walk from shops and everything the centre offers.
Accommodation
On campus with 24-hour security. Flats have individual study bedrooms, private bathrooms and shared kitchens, with 5 to 7 rooms per flat.
Prices include Wi-Fi, utility bills and cleaning. January 2027 prices were from £145 per week for a 7-bed shared ensuite flat.
Getting around
City centre and shopping: 5 minutes' walk. Birmingham International Airport: 10 minutes by train, with 130+ direct destinations. London: under 90 minutes by train.
Working while you study
Overseas students at degree level or above may usually work up to 20 hours per week in term time and full time in university vacation periods (dates vary by course). The Careers and Placements Team helps you find part-time work.

Aston invests over £5 million each year in scholarships for international students.
Pre-Master's Programme (PMP)
A two-semester programme with ONCAMPUS on the Aston campus. It prepares international students and guarantees progression to a wide range of Aston Master's degrees, subject to meeting entry criteria.
